stormlog.infer.host_clock

Identify one host boot when deciding if wall timestamps share a clock.

Functions

host_boot_id()

Return a boot-scoped ID, or None when the host cannot provide one.

is_boot_qualified(clock_domain)

Whether a wall clock domain names a host boot, not only a hostname.

wall_clock_domain(host, boot_id)

Name the wall clock of one host boot.

stormlog.infer.host_clock.wall_clock_domain(host, boot_id)[source]

Name the wall clock of one host boot.

Hostnames repeat across machines, so the boot ID is part of the name: equal names then mean one clock. Without a boot ID the name cannot show that two timestamps share a clock; see is_boot_qualified().

Parameters:
  • host (str)

  • boot_id (str | None)

Return type:

str

stormlog.infer.host_clock.is_boot_qualified(clock_domain)[source]

Whether a wall clock domain names a host boot, not only a hostname.

Parameters:

clock_domain (str)

Return type:

bool

stormlog.infer.host_clock.host_boot_id()[source]

Return a boot-scoped ID, or None when the host cannot provide one.

Return type:

str | None
